This is a startling piece of spalted oak which came from the very base of an ancient oak which overlooked Seale Hayne Agricultural College for generations.
I think this is one of the most beautiful pieces of wood I’ve turned and many fellow professional turners have commented on its uniqueness.
An ornately engraved steel handle has been re crafted from shards of metal still attached to section of decommissioned gun stock – re using another generation’s craftsman’s ship. The original screw has even been reused.
It is approximately 90mm in diameter and 160mm tall, stands on a slate base and has been sealed with three coats of Danish oil leaving it with a durable satin glow.
A truly unique piece which would grace anyone’s home.
